About Ms Danielle Melia
Going to see a therapist can be very nerve-wracking, especially if you have been to one before that you did not 'click’ with.
We're all unique and what works well for one person doesn't work for the next.
This little blerb, plus the first session, is here to work out whether Danielle is the right therapist for you.
Danielle assists people to get to know themselves better; where you stand in relation to the world, how you relate to other people and, how you navigate your world, including why you have gotten stuck and your unique map for getting unstuck.
There's an assumption that we should somehow already be great at life, despite not generally being given all of the skills on how to be as effective, as confident, as stable or as clear headed as we want to be. Danielle believes that the right therapist can go a long way towards helping us to learn those skills.
Danielle works with a wide range of client concerns. She has a specialist interest in, and a wealth of experience working with the following topics;
Grief and loss
Adjusting to life changes
-Ethical non monogamy/ polly friendly
-Challenging family relationship dynamics
Sexuality and gender;
Gender questioning/ transitioning
Orgasm/ pleasure/ arousal difficulties
Sexual trauma/ sexual assaults difficulties
Sexual pain and anxiety
Sex worker support
The main therapeutic approaches used by Danielle are are Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR),and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Daniele weaves humour, warmth, a casual approach and a loosly psychodynamic framework into delivering psycho education about getting your brain and body to work the best for you.
