Online Therapy

Winnicott Psychology Clinic understands the difficulty that some may face in being able to travel to appointments. With online counselling, you can have access to qualified and experienced psychologists within the comfort of your own home.

We offer online therapy sessions either face to face with the use of Skype, or by telephone. Your Skype appointment will be the same as any other face to face session. It will be conducted by one of our psychologists within the privacy of their office. All that you will need is your computer, reliable internet, and your own private space.

Who is Online Therapy For?

  • It may be difficult for you to travel due to where you live.

  • You may have problems with your mobility.

  • You might feel anxious about being able to leave your home.

  • You may have other commitments that impact your time.

What can I expect from Online Therapy?

  • Online therapy is no different to that of a face-to-face session in the psychologist’s office. We take the time to listen to your problem, to discuss the different options that we think might assist you, and then agree on the best approach to take.

What issues are best treated by Online Therapy?

  • Depression, anxiety including panic attacks, agoraphobia and OCD; stress, grief and loss; motivation; chronic pain, anger management, and trauma.

  • Couples therapy, vocational counselling or for those who feel things are just not quite right or are not moving in the right direction are also suitable for online therapy.

  • Sexual issues or difficulties.

When is Online Therapy not appropriate?

  • When someone’s life may be at risk.

  • People who may self-harm.

  • People who suffer severe psychological disorders such as schizophrenia or Bipolar disorder  and personality disorders.

  • If you are likely to be interrupted during the session.

Is Online Therapy eligible for Medicare Rebates?

  • Unfortunately no. Online counselling may be covered by your private health insurer-please contact your insurance provider prior to scheduling an appointment to know if you are covered.

What do I need to particpate in Skype Treatment?

  • A computer with a camera and audio capacity.

  • Internet Broadband, or a strong reliable internet connection is essential to ensure the session will not be interrupted.

  • You will need to create a SKYPE account, and this is very simple to do.

  • You will need an email address and Internet banking for payment of fees.
