Adult ADHD Assessments

What is ADHD?

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that can affect attention, organisation, emotional regulation, motivation, and day-to-day functioning. While ADHD is often associated with childhood, many adults reach adulthood without ever receiving a diagnosis.

At Winnicott Psychology Clinic, we understand that adults with ADHD are often highly capable people who have spent years feeling overwhelmed, misunderstood, or exhausted from trying to “keep up.” Many clients describe feeling like everyday tasks take far more effort than they should.

                                        Common Signs of Adult ADHD:

  • Difficulty getting started on tasks

  • Difficulty completing tasks

  • Poor attention and excessive distractibility

  • Chronic procrastination

  • Forgetfulness and frequently losing things

  • Poor organisation, planning, and time management

  • Restlessness or difficulty slowing down

  • Impulsivity — saying or doing things without thinking

  • Emotional overwhelm or frustration

  • Relationship or marital difficulties

  • Trouble balancing work, home, and personal responsibilities

Many adults also experience anxiety, low self-esteem, burnout, or depression alongside ADHD symptoms. Because these difficulties can overlap with other mental health conditions, a comprehensive assessment is important.

ADHD Can Also Come With Strengths!

People with ADHD are often creative, energetic, curious, intuitive, and able to think outside the box. Many thrive in fast-paced environments, bring innovative ideas to problems, and possess strong empathy and passion.

Understanding how your brain works can help you move from self-criticism toward self-understanding.

Now Let’s Work Together...

Our Adult ADHD Assessment process is thorough, evidence-based, and designed to help you gain clarity and practical recommendations for moving forward. Our therapists work collaboratively with clients using evidence-based and neuroaffirming approaches tailored to individual strengths and needs.

1. Initial Clinical Psychology Session

Your psychologist will gather information about your current concerns, personal history, and daily functioning. ADHD screening measures may also be completed during this session.

2. Comprehensive Diagnostic Interview

A structured interview explores developmental history, psychological functioning, emotional wellbeing, educational and occupational experiences, and the impact symptoms are having on your life.

Where appropriate, collateral information from a parent, partner, or family member may also be included.

3. Online ADHD Assessment Measures

Clients complete standardised ADHD questionnaires remotely outside of session time.

4. Report Preparation

Your psychologist integrates all assessment information into a detailed written report, including diagnostic impressions and recommendations for supports or next steps.

5. Feedback Session

During the feedback appointment, your psychologist will explain the assessment findings, answer questions, and discuss practical strategies, supports, and treatment recommendations.
