Womens Help

Stop putting everyone else first.  Stop putting this off.  You are important too.

1 in 5 women will experience depression and 1 in 3 will experience anxiety in their lifetime, yet so many women struggle to accept that they may be struggling with a psychological disorder.

We know we are feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, angry, irritable, but we hold onto the belief that we still might be one of the 4 in 5 women who are not experiencing depression, or the 2 in 3 who will not experience anxiety.

Just because we refuse to accept it, does not just make a disorder go away.  Try not accepting a broken leg.  It does not matter how much you try to ignore it, the leg is still broken and will cause you distress.

Things happen to bodies.  Sometimes you catch a flu, sometimes you break a leg, sometimes your arteries harden, at other times your regulatory systems struggle to regulate mood and feelings of well-being and you develop depression or anxiety or any number of psychological disorders.

Getting the flu is not a sign of weakness, it is an illness.... and the same goes for psychological disorders. And, psychological disorders will not just go away, and worse, many of the coping mechanisms that we use to tough things out can actually exacerbate symptoms!

Psychological disorders are real illnesses and need real professional assistance to aid recovery.  But the good news is, that these disorders are treatable.  Do not put it off.  Seek treatment sooner rather than later.
